A Turning Point
Almost 30 years ago, I left my life behind, as broken as a 32-year-old woman could be. I vividly remember standing on a hotel balcony, 16 floors up. I looked over the edge and debated whether this life was worth all this pain. The thought of ending it all crossed my mind. Everything happening around me felt overwhelming.
I recall my hands gripping that railing tightly, imagining what that fall would feel like. In that moment, I somehow knew I couldn’t leave. My three beautiful children needed me.
A Commitment to Life
In those dark moments, I prayed and made a commitment to God. I demanded that I would stay and fight. But I needed at least one good thing each day to tether me to this world.
Since then, God, love, and life have been faithful. I have not lived one day without noticing good things. There is so much abundance in this world. We are swimming in goodness as we walk through our days.
Observing Life's Abundance
This year, I’ve traveled quite a bit. Everywhere I go, I see people living, working, playing, shopping, eating, and drinking. I love to watch how they interact with their lives and families. Yet, so many seem unaware of the beauty and abundance surrounding them.
The Importance of Gratitude
I hope I never forget this lesson. I hope you don’t either. Every day is a good day to count the gifts we are given. Keeping a list—whether written or held in your heart—can be transformative. Gratitude is the most important element of a meaningful life.
There is grace in every day. Stop and take time to say, "Thank you very much."
Embracing the Goodness
Finding joy in the small things can change your perspective. Whether it's a warm cup of coffee in the morning or a smile from a stranger, these moments matter. They remind us of the goodness that exists.
Creating a Gratitude Practice
Consider starting a gratitude journal. Write down three things each day that you are thankful for. This simple practice can shift your mindset and help you focus on the positive aspects of life.
Sharing Your Abundance
Don't keep your gratitude to yourself. Share it with others. Tell your friends and family what you appreciate about them. This not only strengthens your relationships but also spreads positivity.
The Ripple Effect of Gratitude
When you express gratitude, it creates a ripple effect. Others feel inspired to do the same. This can lead to a more positive environment, whether at home, work, or in your community.
Conclusion: A Life of Abundance
In conclusion, life is full of abundance if we choose to see it. Each day offers opportunities for gratitude and joy. By committing to notice the good, we can transform our lives and the lives of those around us.
Let’s embrace the beauty of life together. Remember, every day is a chance to count our blessings. Let's make it a habit to find at least one good thing each day. After all, life is a precious gift, and we should cherish it.
