Something New

It’s interesting to me how we do familiar things. I’ve lived in Cincinnati off and on over the last 18 years. And I’ve discovered a lot. A lot of nature. Beautiful parks and coffee shops, little stores that I love to go to.

When I come, I usually sort of have in mind where I wanna go to revisit. Yesterday it came to me that I needed new things. This is a huge city with so much to offer and I continue to visit beautiful spots, but they’re the same spots. I guess usually I feel like I’m in a hurry and I don’t wanna take the time to discover things that I might not like so I just visit the ones that I know that I love. And I love that nothing wrong with that.

But this weekend I am discovering new things going to new coffee shops, new restaurants, new parks, new anything that calls to me.

Right now, I just went to a coffee shop called Birdie’s. I did go there once in December on my way out of town. I loved it, but it also made me cry as I was grieving the circumstances around my leaving town. Today it was lovely. I sat outside, drank my coffee and ate croissant in the beautiful spring morning then I decided to come to a park and I decided I would find a new park that I’ve never been to and I ended up at Owls Nest Park it’s absolutely beautiful. And is feeding my soul in new ways.

It’s right in the middle of a beautiful old neighborhood here in Cincinnati and I’ve probably driven past it 100’s of times and never even noticed it. But today is the day that has changed that and I am grateful.

How often do you do something new in your town? Maybe today’s the day! You never know what you’re gonna find, who you’re gonna meet or just how it will feed your soul with the beauty that surrounds you.
